She was the favorite of the English French, a style icon and a voice with a delightful accent. Jane Birkin has died at the age of 76, found lifeless on Sunday July 16 in Paris after making her mark on music and film.
This London-born, naturalized Frenchwoman, whose name is inseparable from that of Serge Gainsbourg, recently reported serious health problems that forced her to cancel concerts. She looked weakened in February during the French Film Awards’ latest César Awards along with her daughter, actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, who in 2021 dedicated the documentary “Charlotte’s Jane” to her.
The ceremony is reserved for the singer’s family and relatives, but the public will be able to follow the star’s funeral. However, faced with national unrest over the announcement of the disappearance of the singer and actress, the ceremony is “broadcast live on a giant screen at the corner of rue Saint-Honoré and rue des Pyramides” to “associate the general public”.
The singer’s funeral is broadcast at the top of this article.
