Launch of the National Rural Medicine Program

Yesterday morning the launch of the national program of “Rural Medicine. “Through this project, approved unanimously in Parliament,” provides for the establishment of doctors in 10 rural areas in the interior of the country.
The objective of the program is to improve accessibility to comprehensive health care for individuals and families living in rural areas with actions aimed at deepening the training of doctors specialized in family and community medicine. The project also provides facilities for those health professionals who choose to settle in rural areas to carry out their tasks, for which they will receive, in addition to their salary, a home, and electricity, water and internet services at no cost. ” The event was attended by Dr. Leonardo Cipriani, President of “ASSE, Dr. Alfredo Fratti, President of the House of Representatives,” Dr. Miguel Martínez Dean of Medicine at Udelar, the “Magister Graciela Carreño Director of the Cenur Litoral Norte, Dr. Luis Rodríguez president of FEMI, Dr. Zaida Artela President of the SMU, Dr. Lucía Delgado President of the Medical College of Uruguay and Dr. Karina Rando General Director of Coordination of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP ).
The president of ASSE, Leonardo Cipriani, stressed that, since the beginning of the administration, care in rural areas has been a priority for the institution, still in a pandemic. ASSE has more than 900 service centers throughout the country and is the only health provider installed in the entire national territory, Cipriani concluded.
