The Russian Defense Ministry has transferred weapons and equipment to troops in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, according to the Institute for the Study of War, quoted by Sky News.
The increase in appropriations is part of the Kremlin’s efforts to steadily expand Russia’s internal security capabilities in the wake of the June Wagner uprising.
But ISW said the deployment of machine guns, anti-drone defenses and military equipment in those regions indicated the Kremlin was “increasingly concerned” about attacks on the border with Ukraine.
