Joshua Perez It was one of the novelties in the selection processes since March of last year when he decided to defend the colors of El Salvador in the Pre-Olympic that was played in Guadalajara. Since then he has become a regular in Hugo Pérez’s calls, who is also his uncle, and he has been consolidating but in the last year his absence has been evident.
Currently he is a member of the Miami FC of the United States USL. During this year he confessed that he has had differences with the coaching staff of the national team but as he stated in an interview with the sports brand Umbro, he has never closed the door to returning to the blue and white, if his sports level is allows it. Joshua spoke about his beginnings and his decision to wear the national team shirt.
“Making the decision to represent El Salvador was a great moment for me,” confessed the former Serie A Fiorentina player. He added that “it was a difficult decision but at the end of the day, it was the best decision for me and for my career.”
He commented that at that time in early 2021, that decision was “an opportunity to represent another side of me with pride and honor. I know my mom was happy with that decision too.”
He spoke about his first time wearing the national team shirt: “It was incredible (playing in the Olympic Qualifying). I had the opportunity to show what I can do.”
And he concluded with his main objective in the immediate future: “My number one objective is to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. I can help El Salvador to be there. That it be in Canada, the United States and Mexico gives us a little hope “.
