“I had a stroke in January that left me paralyzed from my shoulders to my right side, but I’m feeling better,” Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain said Thursday on the band’s website. The stroke was followed by ten weeks of intensive care, after which McBrain was able to join the rest of the band for rehearsals for the European stops of the Future Past world tour in May 2023. It was not known at the time if he would be able to play a full concert, but luckily his recovery was going well. Even now, he is not in 100 percent shape, but as he writes: “I am getting stronger and better every week.”

McBrain has performed at every show of the European leg of the Future Past World Tour so far, with the last show being at the Wacken Open Air festival where the band is headlining.
