CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan – Both drivers of the horse-drawn carriages were sent to the hospital after they were involved in a collision with one another in Central Park on Monday afternoon.
While the horses did not sustain major injuries, the operators are expected to be fine, according to the police.
There is a lack of clarity regarding whether or not any passengers were present in the carriages at the time of the accident.
As a further justification for its call for the city to prohibit the use of carriage horses in Central Park, the animal advocacy group known as NY Class is citing this occurrence as additional justification.
