Helicopter Crash in Roberts County Kills 31-year-old Pilot, NTSB Investigating

A small helicopter crashed in Roberts County and killed one person.

It occurred around 7:20 a.m. off FM 2699, approximately 7.5 miles northwest of Miami.

The pilot, Travis Chester, 31, of Miami, was the only person aboard.

According to the NTSB, the helicopter was a 2014 Robinson R44 Raven II, similar to the one shown above.

The Robinson R44 Raven II is a lightweight, four-seat, single-engine helicopter notable for its versatility and low cost. It has a range of up to 348 nautical miles and a maximum speed of 149 mph.

Chester had used the helicopter to round up animals at his property.

The cause of the crash has yet to be identified.
