The Madison County Fire Department said that almost 40 individuals were injured in an accident involving a Greyhound bus.
The fire department said that crews were dispatched to Highway 70 East just after 6:45 p.m. on Monday evening for an accident involving a Greyhound bus.
According to MCFD, the “mass casualty” crash injured 39 persons, 27 of whom needed to be sent to the hospital in ambulances.
“This response was a coordinated team effort involving Madison County Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and MedCenter EMS,” the department’s spokesperson stated.
“We deeply appreciate the collaboration and dedication of all agencies involved.”
MCFD requested that people avoid the area for at least several hours to allow emergency services to safely address the situation.
