Skills related to human resources have experienced a growth in demand of 74% in the first quarter of 2022 according to data from Udemy Business in Spain, the training and development platform for employees of udemy. A sector that continues to evolve as companies devote more efforts to preserve (or improve) the well-being and conciliation of their employees, as one of the engines for retaining talent. In fact, according to studies, up to 27%one of Spaniards who plan to change jobs in 2022 do so for reasons such as mental health, economic conditions, or the experience of dedicating themselves to something different, but also to obtain a better work-life balance.

On the occasion of International Human Resources Day this May 20, udemyin collaboration with the instructor Cecilia Mansilla, shares the five keys that are already marking wellness policies in the current work environment:

  1. Promote education through training. Creating online training or meetings that focus on wellness techniques can help promote the importance of taking care of ourselves inside and out. The fact of being focused solely on our work often leads to the neglect of our well-being, so the training focused on this purpose helps to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and well-being.
  2. Reduce meetings and video conferences. 92% of employees consider daily work meetings to be unproductive. There is no doubt that the increase in the number of meetings in digital format in a very high percentage has increased and, consequently, the workload. A new practice on the rise is to establish a day without meetings a week, an action that helps in the well-being of workers. According to recent studies, productivity can grow up to 71%, with a 52% increase in satisfaction.
  3. Flexible working hours through work by objectives. In the digital age, working hours by hours no longer make sense but by objectives, because this is how flexibility is really provided, which has a positive impact on well-being. In short, by granting employees autonomy, a more effective conciliation and better self-management of their time is achieved.
  4. Leadership training. Many of the people who lead teams lack the knowledge to lead through new work modalities, such as hybrid work (face-to-face and remote) and remote work. This is why leadership training is key to providing employees with the right tools and knowledge to manage their teams’ time more efficiently. In addition, it promotes a better employee experience and a healthier work culture.
  5. The importance of physical exercise. The positive relationship that exists between the practice of physical exercise and well-being is unquestionable. Some organizations are offering monthly allowances for employees to invest in their physical well-being, such as gym memberships, participation in sporting events, or healthy lifestyle training.
