According to information from The Wrap, the tenth installment of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise has seen its budget grow to the point of practically getting out of control. The medium points out that the budget of ‘Fast & Furious 10‘ would have amounted to 340 million dollars, well above the 200 million of the previous installment.
This budget increase would be mainly due to various tax incentive compensations, the increase in the salaries of the stars of the franchise, an increase in production costs and security protocols due to COVID-19.
With this budget of 340 million dollars, the film would establish itself as the fourth most expensive film ever produced, behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (356 million dollars), ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (365 million) and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ (379 million).
Similarly, and despite this increase in budget, the popularity of the saga is such that success at the box office seems assured for Universal Pictures. Without going any further, ‘fast & furious 9‘ reached 726 million dollars in revenue in 2021, while the entire franchise exceeds 6,000 million dollars.
With a premiere dated May 19, 2023, the film will feature the return to the cast of Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang in their respective roles. In addition, the tenth installment will also feature the new additions to the Jason Momoa franchise (Aquaman), Daniela Melchior (‘The Suicide Squad’) and Brie Larson (‘Captain Marvel’), with Momoa playing the role of the main villain.
Finally, it must be said that after the surprising departure of Justin Lin as director of ‘Fast & Furious 10‘, Universal Pictures found his replacement a week later in Louis Leterrier, a director who will direct his first film in the franchise with this tenth installment.
