Elderly Woman Killed, Toddler Injured in Head-on Crash in Imperial County

On May 12, 2025, at around 9:20 a.m., a 71-year-old female drove a black 2017 Toyota Camry northbound on Forrester Road, north of Keystone Road. The Toyota driver entered the direct lane of travel of a white 2015 Honda Accord travelling southbound on Forrester Road for reasons that are still being investigated, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The front end of the Toyota collided with the front end of the Honda. The driver of the 2017 Toyota died of her injuries after the incident, according to the CHP.

The Imperial County Coroner’s Office was called, arrived at the site, and took control of the deceased girl, whose name will be disclosed through their office awaiting family notification.

According to the CHP, the 31-year-old female driver of the 2015 Honda Accord suffered significant injuries and was transferred to Desert Regional Medical Centre. In addition, a 1-year-old girl passenger in the 2015 Honda Accord sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles were equipped with deployed airbag systems. All parties and passengers were restrained at the time of the collision.

The California Highway Patrol wants to urge motorists to drive defensively and without distractions every time they step behind the wheel.
