A single-vehicle accident that occurred early on Saturday morning on Cartersville Road in Buckingham County resulted in the death of a woman from New Canton.
The 64-year-old Jane Anita Opie-Brown was thrown from her vehicle and passed away at the scene of the accident.
An investigation is being conducted by the Virginia State Police into the deadly accident that took place at 7:15 a.m. close to the crossroads located with Route 15.
When the Mazda driven by Brown slid off the right side of Cartersville Road, it flipped over and collided with a tree. Brown was traveling in the eastbound direction on Cartersville Road.
Brown did not have a seatbelt on at the time.
The collision is still being looked at by authorities.
