Emergency crews responded to a chaotic scene Tuesday afternoon after a dump truck barreled into a home in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey.

Dashcam footage captured the truck speeding at about 40 mph as it veered onto the wrong side of the road, knocking down a utility pole before crashing into the house. Witnesses said the truck never slowed down.

“It went through the front yards, never braked, and just right into the house,” said Patty Hudson, who was walking nearby with her grandson just moments earlier. David Keating, a neighbor, rushed to help and stayed with the homeowner until paramedics arrived.

“I was able to talk to him for about 10 minutes until help got there,” Keating said.

The driver, an employee of Zeisloft Trucking, was trapped inside the 73,000-pound truck, loaded with concrete sand, for nearly three hours before being rescued. Company owner Charles Zeisloft said the driver suffered a medical emergency and had no recollection of the crash.

“He had no idea what happened. All he knew was that he was stuck in the truck,” Zeisloft said.

The impact completely destroyed the home, shifting it four feet off its foundation. What remained had to be demolished.

“It’s a miracle no one else was hurt,” Hudson said, still visibly shaken. “There were so many ways this could’ve been worse.”
