Authorities have released 911 recordings from worried witnesses regarding a fiery crash in Hollywood.
The accident led an automobile to collide with a brick wall before bursting into flames.
The incident occurred on Sunday at the junction of Sheridan Street and North 40th Avenue.
“You just can’t miss the smoke,” one caller said. “Oh my goodness.”
Several others stopped in the busy junction to shout for aid, as a driver was trapped inside the blazing automobile.
Douglas Freeman, 49, was identified by family members as the driver who died.
Earlier this week, Local 10 News interviewed two of his sisters.
“He had just taken his girlfriend out for Mother’s Day,” the victim’s sister, Sharon Grant, explained. “Dropped her off and was heading home.”
Freeman was a Navy veteran, a well-known barber, and a truck driver. He was also a father to seven children.
“He made your day,” stated the victim’s sister, Ramona Harper. “Anybody that he came in contact with, he was loved by so many.”
Before the incident, Local 10 News acquired video from a passing driver seeing a white automobile weaving in and out of traffic.
The same vehicle was later observed turned on its side before being taken away. The driver of the vehicle was brought to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unknown what caused the crash.
The probe is still active and ongoing.
