Official documents indicate that Donald Trump is to appear before the judge in the early morning, and then, at quarter-hour intervals, his former accused colleagues, along with him. The filing of the indictment will last until noon.
Last week, all 19 defendants appeared at the Fulton County jail, where they were charged with the crime.
The former president and his associates are accused by the Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney of participating in a criminal organization that tried to change the results of the state’s 2020 presidential election, when, among other things, they sought multiple revisions of the results citing well-founded suspicions of fraud .
In a federal criminal case related to the 2020 presidential election, a competent Washington judge has also set the first trial date for Monday, March 4, 2024.
As such, Judge Tanya Chutkan denied a request by Donald Trump’s defenders to hold the first trial since the 2024 presidential election. At the same time, the judge set the date of the first meeting two months later than the January date proposed by the prosecutor.
After the 2020 presidential election, the then-incumbent president tried to prevent the transfer of power to his successor, according to federal charges.
The date, set by the judge on March 4, coincides with the most active period of the Republican primaries before the 2024 presidential election, just before the so-called “Super Tuesday”, when Republican voters in more than 10 federal states determine their presidential candidate.
In total, between April and August, four criminal charges were filed against Donald Trump: two at the federal level and two in one state each.
The former president believes that the investigation initiated by Democratic prosecutors to prevent him from running in the 2024 presidential election is politically motivated.
