Through a statement, on the night of November 11, the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie) ratified its support for the report on Pandora’s papers, prepared by the Assembly’s Constitutional Guarantees Commission, which points to an alleged breach of the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, of the Law of the Ethical Pact that prohibits candidates for elected office and public officials from possessing assets and money in tax havens.
Likewise, the indigenous organization reiterated its support for Assemblyman Fernando Cabascango, president of the Commission, and the legislators who voted in favor of the report.

“We will remain vigilant about the possible opaque pacts made by some assembly members who have allowed themselves to be subjected to the great interests of political and economic power. The assembly members who have launched accusations of irregular handling in the construction of the report, as a form of sabotage and delegitimization of the work carried out, will have to verify the irresponsible statements made, ”he warned.
The Confederation condemned an alleged political persecution against social leaders and people who have played an active role in the investigation of Pandora’s papers.
