Xiaomi, one of the largest mobile phone manufacturers in the world, recently released an important update that its users should be aware of. The company has updated the list of mobile phones that will no longer receive MIUI updates by adding four new models from the Redmi and POCO brands. If you have one of these models, it might be time to consider upgrading.
Four models that will no longer receive MIUI updates:
- Redmi 9 Prime
- Redmi 9C NFC
- Redmi K30 Ultra
- POCO M2 Pro
Of these, only the Redmi K30 Ultra is the top model. It was released in China over three years ago and featured a motorized selfie camera that popped in and out of the top of the phone. At the time of launch, the device was running Android 10 and received updates to Android 12. It is currently running MIUI 13 but will no longer receive future Xiaomi OS updates.
What does this mean for you?
If you have one of these devices, you should consider swapping the phone. While phones will continue to function normally, they won’t be as secure as they won’t receive new system or security updates. It is also possible to update the system version by unofficial methods, but this is not recommended for security reasons.
It is important to ensure that our devices are always up to date to enjoy the latest security and functionality improvements. If you have one of the models mentioned above, it is recommended that you consider upgrading it. This way you can benefit from the latest updates and get a safer and more functional device.
