A 64-year-old man was killed in a crash earlier this week while his teenage daughter was taking a driving lesson in Laguna Beach.
The victim, James Politoski of Laguna Beach, was identified on Tuesday by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s coroner division.
Politoski was in the passenger seat of a car when it crashed through a fence in the upper parking lot of the now-closed Gelson’s Market on Pacific Coast Highway, between Wesley Drive and Montage Resort Drive, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.
According to authorities, the vehicle continued down an embankment until stopping on Coast Highway.
The man’s 15-year-old daughter, who had a driver’s licence, was behind the wheel and suffered serious injuries, according to authorities.
She was transferred to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where she remained on Tuesday but is expected to live, according to police.
