Barça defines its position regarding the future of Aubameyang

FC Barcelona is obliged to release a few players before the end of the summer transfer market. The Barcelona group has overbooked in the staff plus, has raised its wage bill to 620 million euros, a figure that could be a ‘ruin’ for the Catalans for the future. The intention is to sell the ‘discards’ or footballers with whom the club could make money (Frenkie de Jong case), but not all are on this list; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, one of them.

For the Catalan side, the Gabonese striker is a non-transferable player. Xavi Hernández has him in his plans for the 2022-2023 season as an alternative to ‘9’ for a Robert Lewandowski who will be the undisputed starter. Despite this, the Catalans are aware that having Aubameyang in the squad means having a guarantee of goals. Proof of this is the thirteen goals he scored with Barça after landing at the club in early February.

Amid rumors that Chelsea are interested in transferring the 33-year-old striker, the ‘SPORT’ newspaper has reported that Barça is not in the business of negotiating his exit and would not have offered it to the English team either. The reason is that Xavi considers him a very important player for his project at the club and has given him the “untransferable” label, at least for this transfer market.

The coach from Egar wants a Barça as offensive as possible. He knows that with Lewandowski he has a real ‘killer’ in the squad and that he is securing a good number of goals, but he doesn’t want dependency. For Xavi, the role that Aubameyang can have -starting as a substitute, in principle- could be key to complement the attack, together with Dembélé, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres and Raphinha.

The only way for Barça to ‘give in’

Barça’s position, in principle, is not to listen to offers for Aubameyang, but the picture could change in case there is a “crazy proposal”, always according to information from the ‘SPORT’ newspaper, although from the club they understand that it will not happen. In this sense, it is most likely that the Gabonese will stay at the Spotify Camp Nou for another year, if there are no last-minute surprises.

On the other hand, the intention of ‘Auba’ is to continue wearing Barça the next season. He has adapted very quickly to the dynamic culé and is convinced that he will be important in the midst of the Blaugrana’s goal of fighting for the titles again in the 2022-2023 season.
