Rarely in football -much less in a World Cup- do we listen to a player with as much self-criticism as Kevin de Bruyneone of the biggest stars of Belgiumwho openly questioned the nominated as Man of the Match in the unconvincing victory against Canada in their presentation at Qatar 2022.
In a duel in which the Red Devils were in debt despite the victory with a solitary goal from Mitchi Batshuayi, even being exhibited at times by the Canadians -who missed a penalty with Alphonso Davies-, De Bruyne said he did not understand his award and hinted that it was given to him because of his “famous name” as a player.
“I don’t know why I’m getting this trophy if I didn’t do a good game, maybe they reward me by name”mentioned the Manchester City player while posing with the statuette sponsored by the Budweiser beer brand.

According to the expectations surrounding the Belgians, who finished third in Russia 2018 and once again start as great “black horse” in Qatar 2022this Wednesday’s performance left more doubts than certainties, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as the top figure stopping the aforementioned penalty and removing at least a couple more danger.
In Group F of the World Cup, the Red Devils have games left against Croatia and Morocco to obtain their place in the Round of 16, where they will meet the sector in which Spain, Germany, Japan and Costa Rica are.
