Almost one million passengers were mobilized at Dominican airports in October

Some 949,783 passengers were mobilized during last October, a figure that represents a 9% growth compared to the amount registered in October 2019, according to a statistical report provided by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).

Passengers moved through the country’s airport terminals and reflected an acceleration of 50% compared to September 2021, when the growth was 6%.

The data contained in the “Air Transport Statistical Report” corresponding to the month of October indicate that the 949,783 passengers mobilized correspond to 483,037 incoming flights and 466,746 outgoing flights, carried out in 7,681 air operations, thus placing October as the second consecutive month of growth in passenger traffic so far this year.

When releasing this information, the president of the Civil Aviation Board, José Marte Piantini, stated that “the commercial aviation activity in the Dominican Republic shows that the aviation sector registers a solid recovery compared to the same pre-Covid activity.”

All airports located in tourist spots showed growth such as Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, La Romana and Samaná, the latter standing out for doubling their passenger traffic.

Likewise, the president of the regulatory body of commercial aviation in the country also indicated that “aviation is a very important economic facilitator that allows the development of tourism in the country and facilitates our trade with the region.”

The air operations figures for October register a growth of 56,516 passengers, compared to the air operations of September.

“Thus confirming that we are a destination that has a lot of potential in terms of growth in the aviation market,” said the president of the JAC.
