As reported by the journalist Francys Romero on his Twitter profile, his sources confirmed him (and also to Cuban Ball) that the gardener from Pinar del Río Reinaldo Lazaga, 24, “arrived in the United States, becoming the sixth player of the 12 who left the U23 World Cup” to do so.
“It is expected that in the next few hours the left-handed pitcher Dariel Fernández will join,” added Francys. Dariel is a young prospect also from Pinar del Río, who has not suffered the same fate as his companions, who have been able to cross the northern border of Mexico relatively easily into the United States and, instead, he is still detained by the immigration authorities.

Lazaga left the Antillean team on September 26, as part of a massive three player escape occurred on that day, prior to the team’s game on that day. Along with Lazaga, Dariel himself and the infielder from Spiritus Diasmany Palacio, who has been in the United States for several weeks, left the hotel where the Cuban delegation was staying. he already has a team to play in American college baseball.
The young outfielder from Pinar del Río participated in four National Series, with an offensive average of .263 (175-46), adding 11 doubles as the only extra-base hits, 22 RBIs and 33 runs scored. From now on, he has a hard journey in search of a professional signing through the amateur draft, but he has undoubtedly already made a solid first step.

Pinar del Río left-handed pitcher Dariel Fernández is detained at the border, while six others still remain on Mexican soil: Agramontino outfielder Loidel Chapellí Jr. (he is playing baseball in Aztec lands), right-handed pitcher Bryan Chi (he trains in Mexico), the center fielder from Spiritus Geisel Cepeda, the third baseman from Camagüey Yandy Yánez and the pitcher from Yayabero Luis Danys Morales (of these last three players, no further information has emerged).
