Sony has expanded its Alpha 7C camera family and today announced the Alpha 7C R high-definition camera, in addition to a small further development of the Alpha 7C II.
The camera has a 61 megapixel full-frame back-illuminated (BSI-CMOS) sensor, which we have already seen in the Alpha 7R V. As an improvement in sensor stabilization, we can take advantage of up to 7 Fe, which is suitable for stabilizing exposure times four times longer, than the first version of Alpha 7C (was 5 Fe).
New is a selectable RAW resolution (60, 26 or 15 MP) as well as a high resolution mode (Pixel Shift) using multiple exposure, which gives a final resolution of 240 MP after processing in external software. According to the information provided by the manufacturer, it is also possible to detect and correct the offset during processing.
Although the machine was primarily designed for small dimensions, we also thought about those for whom a comfortable grip is more important, so an additional lever-raiser (not portrait) is also available for them.
According to the manufacturer, the focusing system is supported by modern artificial intelligence, so in addition to people, it can recognize and accurately track various animals and vehicles, whether it is a photo or video recording. The field of focus of the phase difference sensor 693 covers 79% of the image field.
Movies can be recorded in 4k UltraHD resolution, with a maximum frame rate of 60 fps and approx. With image cropped by 1.2 times. Recordings can be made with 10-bit quantization and 4:2:2 color subsampling (max. 600 Mbps).
Recordings can be saved to an SD card which has a slot that also supports cards with UHS-II transfer mode.
Sony Alpha 7C R will go on sale from October this year, the price of the frame will be 3700 euros.
