A two-vehicle incident in Grayslake, a far north Chicago suburb, injured six individuals on Sunday afternoon.

At 3:24 p.m., the Grayslake police and fire departments responded to a crash near Peterson and Midlothian roads. According to police, a 2025 Corvette was driving west on Peterson Road and turned left when it collided with an eastbound 2020 GMC sport-utility vehicle.

Grayslake police said the SUV flipped over, ejecting a 12-year-old from the back seat.

According to the fire department, three other persons needed to be extricated from the two automobiles.

The fire department reported that crews worked for 25 minutes to extract the patients. According to the fire department, five persons were stabilized, with the sixth in critical condition. The victims were all transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The 12-year-old had to be transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago owing to the severity of his injuries.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team helped Grayslake police investigate the crash.

A portion of Peterson Road was closed as a result of the incident.
