An accident that occurred on Thursday morning in Darlington County resulted in the death of a thirteen-year-old boy, as stated by the coroner for the county.
The accident took place in the 700 block of Bay Branch Road, close to Dewberry Street, in the Lamar neighbourhood at approximately 7:55 a.m., according to the Coroner Todd Hardee. The girl was on her way to school at the time of the collision.
While she was at the scene, Hardee pronounced her dead. It has been stated by the coroner that he does not want to make her name public at this time.
It was reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol that the victim was riding in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was heading west on Bay Bridge Road when the car went off the road, collided with a ditch, and then crashed into a tree.
The driver was transported to a nearby medical facility.
Additionally, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Darlington County Coroner’s Office are conducting an investigation into the collision.
