1 Dead, 5 Critically Injured in Wrong-way Crash on Dallas North Tollway

On Monday, a major incident closed a part of the Dallas North Tollway, killing one and injuring five.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said it got multiple reports of a collision involving a wrong-way vehicle at 1:30 a.m. at DNT and Royal Lane.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a passenger vehicle was going the wrong way (northbound in the southbound lanes), side-swiped an 18-wheeler, then collided with another passenger vehicle head-on.

According to DFR, two automobiles were on fire, with passengers pinned inside.

According to DFR, five persons were sent to local hospitals after being extricated from their automobiles. One individual was killed in the crash. The five passengers were critically hurt, while the driver of the 18-wheeler remained unharmed.

Just before 6 a.m., traffic was stopped near Royal Lane as drivers were rerouted to I-635. By 6:15 a.m., all lanes were restored.

A hazmat team, collision investigators, and several emergency units were also on the site. DFR’s Urban Search and Rescue Team was also dispatched.
