According to the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District, a person died and three others were injured in a head-on car accident in Modesto on Wednesday morning.

According to CHP data, the California Highway Patrol was summoned at 5:48 a.m. to Mitchell Road and Tenaya Drive near Modesto City-County Airport.

There were two automobiles involved. According to Stanislaus Fire, the first automobile was carrying three persons and two dogs.

One person died and two were seriously injured. A dog was injured, while the other dog was unharmed. One of the occupants of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

It was unclear what triggered the collision.
